NC-v4 INc2:LEED Accredited Professional

Specialty Appropriate for the Project

I am a LEED AP ID+C. I mostly work on LEED NC BD+C. Will I need to retake the specialty exam in LEED v4 to qualify for this credit? If so, do I need to take the LEED Associate Exam? It didn't exist when I first certified.

Hi Douglas, my understanding is that the LEED AP ID+C specialty earns this credit for Commercial Interiors projects only. I don't think you'll be required to take the LEED GA exam if you decide to get the BD+C specialty, however, since you've already got one specialty credential. I wasn't required to when I added EBO+M to BD+C.

How did you get your second specialty? I can't find any info on that.

If I remember correctly it was as easy as registering here: http://www.usgbc.org/credentials. There's a link for people who already have a credential right below the "Register for the exam" button.

Was it about 4 years ago that you got your second credential? I think there was a grace period. It looks like the exam is required now. Thank you for your response. It directed me to the webpage that I needed.

I took the exam in November 2013. It's interesting that the LEED GA exam is required in this situation now. Would you mind posting where you're seeing that so others that come to this page can find it? Thanks!

I think you have to go to your own credentials page under: http://www.usgbc.org/account/credentials or On the left side of the screen click "Credentials" and then "Overview" If you scroll down, it says, "To earn more credentials, select an exam from the list." There is a list of exams with prices.

How does credential maintenance work when you have two specialties. Do you need 30 hours still or 60?

The CMP Guide lays out all the requirements, you can download it here: http://www.usgbc.org/resources/cmp-guide. Page 1 says "LEED APs with specialty complete 30 CE hours, 6 of which must be LEED-specific. LEED APs with multiple specialties complete 6 LEED-specific hours for each additional specialty."
