Hi all,
I am working on a Div 01 sustainability spec section for our firm to include by default on all projects. I've been finding a lot of great sample language out there for embodied carbon measures and material transparency (huge thanks to anyone here who had a part in developing those resources).
One thing I'd like to include is avoidance of tropical wood. There's a ton of information and discussion about this subject out there (honestly, a little too much discussion to keep my head straight about what the actual best practice is, but I gotta try!). However, the only actual spec language I'm seeing just uses the LEED-Homes prerequisite. [No wood sourced from within the tropical latitudes, unless FSC certified.]
Is anyone using that LEED-Homes prereq as a requirement on non-LEED projects? Or something else? Avoidance of particular species versus location? Would love to hear this group's thoughts on how to work this into a Div 01 spec.
