NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

Spaces that are not in scope

I am currently working on an energy model for a major renovation project under LEED BD+C.  There are two major spaces (both lunch rooms) that are not going to be served by the new HVAC systems or new lighting systems we are designing and, by that logic, I am modeling.  Is it acceptable and/or possible to exclude those spaces in the energy modeling software (eQUEST), such as listing them as unconditioned?  Is there anything mentioned in Appendix G regarding this matter?  I have been looking at Appendix G over and over, and I could not get a direct response.

This is a how do you model it question, not how do you build it or how do you model the baseline condition question. If it is not to be included in the baseline it won't show up in Appendix G. I don't think you should list them as unconditioned when they are conditioned. The first question is are these spaces within the LEED project boundary? If yes are they being excluded in general because there is not work happening in those spaces that would impact LEED? Usually LEED would encourage you to certify a complete building and not just part of one. If these spaces are a part fo the LEED submission then you have to model them. You should model them identically based on the current systems and conditions. If you are excluding them and assuming that these spaces have the same temperature settings as the adjoining spaces, they should be excluded by creating an adiabatic wall between them and the spaces within the LEED boundary. Make sure to explain the exclusion to the reviewer.
