This credit asks teams to "evaluate source reduction opportunities for the project (e.g., alter purchasing practices, join food donation programs)." This is difficult in a multi-tenant office building where the owner doesn't have direct control or influence over tenant practices. This seems most applicable to buildings with cafeterias. We've messaged to tenants about food waste and source reduction opportunities, but aside from that we're out of good ideas. Any one else have a creative approach for this?

Here's an idea: our office implemented a catering policy where any lunches brought in for meetings need to be served "family style" rather than in individually boxed lunches. This mainly addresses packaging waste, but it does impact the portions people take and may reduce the quantity of food discarded. Rather than making this a requirement, you could provide all tenants with a list of recommended catering companies that offer that service, or who commit to some other source reduction practices.
