Hi,
what would be the most appropriate approach to model solatubes (as Skylight, using IES file provided by manufacturer, other)?
Thank you!

Hi Xavier,
You may use the ies file and model the solatube as light fixtture. In addition, you may adjust the total of the lumen output per your climate condition.

Solatube International provides a suite of .IES files for each product configuration (reference product cut sheets on website). The .IES files follow the PIER Program and IESNA format for .IES daylight files. They consist of clear or cloudy Sky, and an option of nine solar altitudes files. In addition, our tools address light loss factors for dirt depreciation and light loss over long tube runs and elbows. The lumen characteristic, as Eddy mentioned, is from a lumen output chart per site location, representing climate condition (TMY2), or CIE Clear Sky Condition. In addition we have rolled out a quick reference chart to hours of electric light offset, given a determined lumen requirement for the space. For these tools, please contact Solatube International- Commercial Division, or your local Solatube Representative. Thank you. for considering our product.

Thank you for the information, Candice. Is it possible to share the ies file with us because previously we could download from the website directly?

Hi Eddy, Yes, we still share the files. Since we expanded our library from 3 to 236 .ies files, plus lumen charts. We did not want to make it overly complex on the website download. Please feel free to contact me and I can give you what you need, or offer the entire library via an FTP download. cclark@solatube.com
