If one is using the prescription method with a combination of sidelighting and top daylighting and the ratio of the skylights to the roof area does not confirm to 3% to 6%. Can we still consider the skylights as it is a combination of the sidelighting and top daylighting. Any suggestions and comments is really appreciated.

Hi Susan,
You cannot include the side lighting into skylight area in Skylight Roof Coverage calculation. I suggest that you divide the room into two portion calculations. The first portion calculation includes the area that is closer to the sidelighting source. In this area, you will use sidelighting calculation.
The second portion calculation includes the area that is under top daylighting source. For this area, you will use top lighting calculation. For skylight roof coverage, you only need to include the roof area above the second portion area. Thus, it may help you to achieve 3% to 6% requirement.
