Hi,
following the illuminance climatic modeling methodology on p732 in the LEEDv4 book, it is suggested to use a custom sky and input:
Direct HORIZONTAL irradiance and diffuse horizontal irradiance.
As we are simulating in radiance using DIVA4Rhino (version3 alpha), the simulation using custom sky only has two inputs:
Direct NORMAL irradiance and Diffuse horizontal irradiance.
These are just two different ways of achieving the same simluation sky dome. I will just ask for confirmation if it is ok to use the custom sky dome created by direct normal irradiacne and diffuse horizontal irradiance parameters.

In my opinion, you can use perez sky model that uses direct normal input.
To decide the brightest day, you can use LEED method. You can use Global horizontal minus diffuse horizontal irradiance to get the direct horizontal.
