Dear all,
I have a question concerning Simple Box energy modeling. Is it really necessary to perform an energy model at this point or will a narrative from the schematic design be ok? What are your experiences on this in this credit? Did anyone achive this point without energy modeling?
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

I think you are missing the point. Instead of focusing on what you need to do to satisfy the credit requirements, focus on what you could do to inform the development of the design to be more water and energy efficient at the earliest stage of the development of the design. What is your goal and expected outcomes you want to achieve by doing this? Can you do that without modeling? If you understand what the credit is trying to get you to examine then you will be able to answer your own questions.
By the way with the right modeling software you can do this kind modeling is about a an hour.
If you complete schematic design you are already too late to earn this credit IMO.

For refurbishment of an existing space, and the project will have the same use, would it be appropriate to analyze the energy consumption data to inform the development of the design to be more energy efficient, or performing Simple Box energy modelling? Noting the orientation, the envelope, the cooling system, and the FAHUs are all fixed and shall be retained.
Many thanks.

I don't think that your situation is any different other than there are fewer variables to consider.
The idea here is to identify and evaluate your options in the predeisgn phase. This may not require an energy model.
It may be appropriate to analyze the energy consumption data but I can't tell what you mean by this to determine whether I think it would qualify under this credit. This analysis should include an evaluation of potential strategies to inform the development of the design. Analyzing energy consumption data does not necessarily include such an evaluation.

Marcus,
Much obliged for your comments. Just to clarify the energy consumption data, this is metered annual data for the same existing space, before been refurbished. The aim is to evaluate the significance of parameters such as lighting, which is included in the design, to determine strategies for energy savings, e.g. using daylighting...etc.
Thanks again.
