The college is building a new engineering building on campus. Bicycle storage is planned near the functional entrances and exceeds the short-term and long-term quantity and distance requirements per Case 1 for institutional projects. The building is also located on a bicycle network that connects to 10 diverse uses within 3-mile bicycling distance of the project boundary, and the purpose of the building is a school. The project is located 0.16 miles (essentially down the block and across the street) from the college's field house/gymnasium. The college's website regarding bicycles states, "If you need to tidy up after your ride, showers and lockers are available in the Williams Fieldhouse. Students, staff, and anyone with a Pioneer Activity Center membership may rent lockers on a semester or yearly basis from the Athletic Administration Office in the Pioneer Activity Center." The campus has 13 campus residential facilities which can accommodate 3750 students. All freshman and Sophomore students must live in university residence halls unless they meet established criteria for exemption. Is there a CIR regarding shower facilities in educational buildings for college campuses?

Haven't seen an interpretation, but you might use the campus/group guidance for v4 to guide your approach & make an argument for it meeting the intent in v4.1? And you'd most likely need to demonstrate that there are enough showers in the rec building for the entire population that would be expected to use it, not just the occupants of the LEED building.
The students would be visitors to this building, so you wouldn't need to count them in the shower users calc.
