Short-term Bicycle Storage - Cancer Center

Hi LEEDuser community,

I am working on a new Cancer Center project pursuing LEED Silver (possibly Gold). Due to the use of the building (the treatment of cancer patients), how would I determine how many short-term bicycle storage I am required to have?

Example - The peak visitors number for the Caner Center project (450,000 sf) - 450 max.

LEED Credit form requires 12 short-term bike storage spaces for the 450 peak visitors.

Do I really need to provide 12 short-term bike storage spaces if the majority of the visitors are cancer patients? Would providing the minimum of short-term bike storage spaces per the LEED form of 4 be adequate (this would provide short-term bike storage spaces for 155 peak visitors using the 2.5% minimum credit requirement).

Do you  believe that I have a case for the reduction of the required short-term bike storage spaces under the "Special Circumstances?"

Thank you very much for your input and help on this question!

Within the "Special Circumstances" provide a narrative that details why/which visitors you have excluded from credit calculations and you will be fine.  Excluding hospital patients, kids, and people with special needs will be ok.
