NC-v4 EAp2:Minimum energy performance

Setback Controls

Hi,

In ASHRAE std. 90.1 2010 section 6.4.3.3.2 it is stated that systems shoud have controls that have the CAPABILITY to automatically restart and temporarily operate the system as required to maintain zone temperatures above a heating setpoint adjustable down to 13 degrees C or lower (same for cooling cooling setpoint adjustable up to 32 degrees C).

It is no where stated in Appendix G, that the proposed and baseline buildings SHOULD be simulated with night setback. My question is: is there anything that states that the proposed and baseline building modes should be run with night setback even if those controls won't be applied in the proposed building in reality?

Temperature settings are not dictated by 90.1 at all. The only stipulation is that they must be identical in the baseline model.

Marcus, is it the same for the system No 8 chillers? I wonder if the chillers supply temperature operation should be identical in both of the models. Or should it be as the design says for the proposed and as G.3.1.9 for the baseline?

This just applies to space temperature settings. The chilled water temps should be as designed in the proposed and according to Appendix G in the baseline.
