Is it acceptable to resort to a 5 point scale on the comfort survey instead of the 7 point?
If the ultimate intention is to provide corrective action when a certain portion, overall, of the employees surveyed are dissatisfied, then would it matter if they are entirely dissatisfied or only partially dissatisfied?

I think the granularity is helpful to get a better understanding of how satisfied or dissatisfied people are, and where you might need to target or escalate your corrective action. Additionally, the 7-point scale is required in the EBOM v4 occupant survey, which is a good indication that USGBC would prefer projects to use that format.
