NC-2009 IEQc4.3:Low-Emitting Materials—Flooring Systems

Rubber Flooring System LEED compliance

We are working on a LEED NC2009 project and we are installing a rubber flooring system. The manufacturer has provided datasheets for each component of this system (including: Adhesive, Rubber shockpad, Pore filler, Self-leveling wear course and Sealer) which all state that the VOC content is 0 g/L for each product. My question is: For LEED 2009 IEQc4.3 compliance, is this sufficient since all the components have zero VOC? or do we still need need to test the whole system for compliance with CDPH?

As long as all the components have third-party verification that they meet CDPH emissions requirements, you should be fine.

Does EPDM for roof has VOC content?

LEED v2009 IEQc4.1 and 4.2 address wet-applied materials. So your EPDM adhesive should be compliant. The membrane itself may off-gas but does not fall into any of the categories. Anything above the vapor barrier do not fall into any of the categories that require low-VOC compliance.
