CS-2009 SSc7.2:Heat Island Effect—Roof

Roof Walking Pads

I am currently working on a project where we will have PV panels on the roof, so most of the roof is being covered and will not need to count towards this credits. The portion of the energy star white roof that will be exposed will also be covered with walking pads. Does anyone know of a roof walking pad that has a documented SRI value over 78, that can be used with PVC single ply white energy star roof or a TPO roof?

Lisa, I don't, but I also don't know if you need to worry about it, at least as far as LEED goes. Walking pads would, I believe, be considered appurtenances—see our FAQ above.

Tristan and Lisa! A few years later now, I know, but I just want to confirm that walkways to mechanical equipment/hoods that are needed for maintenance reasons are excluded from the roof area (and the SRI requirement)? My project want these walkways to have a contrasting color and higher friction, and therefore this material will not comply with high SRI. /Maria

Maria, yes -- and this is covered in our FAQs as well!
