Roof Mounted Ventilation Intakes

Is anyone aware of research or guidance that has looked at VOC’s from roofing products and ventilation intakes? I’ve done some searching, and focus is mainly on managing the construction process to reduce installer exposure.

Thanks for any help!

While he had seen little information related to your question, our roofing specialist pointed me toward this (admittedly unscientific) 2012 article that describes the use of carbon filtration at intakes while working with solvents, cleaners and adhesives: http://rci-online.org/wp-content/uploads/2012-01-hawn.pdf

Mark – many thanks for the article. It’s especially helpful whenever you can reduce the ‘unknown unknowns’ out there. While intake air filters are good at reducing particulate matter, I’m not finding much evidence of their effectiveness on long chain polymers. From: Mar
