My project has a balcony that projects away from the building, and does not provide a roof to an enclosed space for the building. How should the balcony be treated for this credit?

NC-v4 SSc5:Heat island reduction

roof definition

In the LEED certification glossary, a definition for roof is not given.  Previously in v3, roof was defined as area covering occupiable space.  For a v4 project, could roof areas that cover unenclosed balconies, terraces, and walkways be excluded from the total roof area?
