Dear All,
In our project, we started the initiative of reusing our waste wood stream as signboards, barriers, waste bins, etc. so that it can be used during the project period. My concern is that these materials may be disposed of in a landfill after the completion of the project.
Are this practices can be counted as waste divertion?

if the signs are used only for this project during its' constrution period then I do not believe it would contribute to waste diversion. If the signs are planned to be used on future construction projects then I believe it would contribute to waste diversion. If I recall that (v2?) allowed this method but only on the initial project...in other words, it can't be considered waste diversion on every project.

Hi Osman,
As defined in the LEED glossary, waste diversion is a management activity that disposes of waste through methods other than incineration or landfilling. Examples include reuse and recycling.
Therefore, if these materials may be disposed to landfill after the completion of the project, then it can't be considered as waste diversion anymore.
