Resilient Design Institute opportunity

Following my retirement from BuildingGreen, I’m also looking to retire from the nonprofit Resilient Design Institute, which I’ve been leading since 2012. My default plan is to sunset the organization in the fall of 2024, but I wanted to offer the idea of someone (or multiple people) taking over the organization.

RDI is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We own the domain ResilientDesign.org and the website www.resilientdesign.org, which could become a useful platform for others to advance the important work of resilient design—and especially the intersection between resilience and sustainability (which has been RDI’s sweetspot).

As you will see if you take a look at the RDI website, I’ve used the organization as a vehicle to do some consulting work related to resilience as well as a platform to publish information on resilient design over the past dozen years.

What I have never been very successful with has been fundraising to support the growth and further the reach of RDI, but with the right leadership and new energy, fundraising could be very successful. Clearly, there is need for good information on resilient design in this day and age of growing impacts of climate change!

If you might be interested in the possibility of using RDI as a platform for advancing resilience (whether this is something you're already involved with, or a new direction for you), send me an e-mail (alex@resilientdesign.org), or contact me by phone or text (802-579-4858); leave a VoiceMail if I don’t answer. I look forward to connecting!

Cheers,

-Alex Wilson
