Can anyone please confirm if the LEEDv4.1 version of this credit requires to treat run-off from pollution generating hard surfaces with LID?
I dont see this requirement specifically expressed in the credit language but the 'Further explanation' section of the guide, under this credit, listing modifications from v4 includes a point under - Treatment of run-off stating that - 'Projects teams should consider prioritizing infiltration of runoff from impervious surfaces considered to be a significant source of pollutants in rainwater runoff. Such surfaces include those which are subject to: vehicular use; industrial activities; or storage of erodible or leachable materials, wastes, or chemicals and which receive direct rainfall or the run-on of rainfall.'
Is that a credit requirement or is it optional?

Hi Kavita,
In my opinion, it is a disclaimer. The Reference Guide says that although it is adviced to infiltrate rainwater from impervious surfaces, you must also consider that some specific areas might be a source of contaminants. For example, vehicles can drip oil or fuel and this can be a concern if they happen too frequently.
Each project must balance pros and cons and make their own decision.
