We have a LEED CI project in an office building in Kuala Lumpur and the local contractor is telling us there is no option to recycle. No local hauler and no facilities to contract with that will recycle.
We know LEED CI does not require an actual recycling program but our client wants to do the right thing. Does anyone out there know of a way to recycle in Kuala Lumpur?

Joel,
I know this is an old post but seeing that 17 other people agree with you, I figured I would add some thoughts to help people out.
1. You don't have to recycle, you have to provide space for recycling. This way when the municipality begins to recycle the building infrastructure supports the effort.
2. In areas where there is no recycling, you may want to develop your own sustainable business network. Your waste product may be a manufacturer's gain. Or you may have a lot of paper waste that schools may like to have. I worked in an office that had a graphics department / printing group. They sent their 'mistakes' to a few local schools. The schools loved getting the larger pieces of paper from our plotting drawings and they also loved the higher quality, colored paper stock. I've seen this work well.
