We have a supplier who is claiming that 70% of the the material contained in Iron ductile pipes are pre consumer recycled content. The 70% they are claiming is made entirely of iron ore fines. These fines are aquired from the mines and are then put through the sintering process. The sinter (created from sintering process) is then used in the steel making process. I have found very little information about using mine site byproduct as recycled material. Question: is this claimable as pre consumer recycled content? The argument from them is that these iron fines are a waste material produced during the mining process that are reprocessed (sintered togther) and this product is then used in the steel making process. Thanks in advance.
