Hello,
I understand the Recertification requires that a survey be conducted every 5 years and my question is whether the five years is from the initial certification of the project, which would be January 2014 or the last survey date, which was November, 2012? I think we will be okay, but want to be sure and use the best results for our survey.

Hi Michelle, the five years is based off the date the previous survey was conducted.

Hi Trista,
So, does that mean there is no point in conducting a new survey at all and not go after the credit? If the survey is outside the timeline, then we should scrap Recertification altogether and start a brand new Certification if we want the points for this credit? There are no extra requirements between a Recert and Regular Cert. for EBOM 2009 SSc4, so I feel redoing a survey and maintaining a program to encourage alternative commuting, makes sense. Is it a moot point as long as we are doing the survey anyway? Your thoughts?

Hi Michelle, in this case I'd recommend laying out your particular situation to GBCI and getting their okay, since there's so many points at stake.

Hello Trista,
I wrote to GBCI and the response was:
'For credits that require verification every 5 years, those inspections/reports do not have to coincide with the performance periods. If you do not have a copy of it, here is the 2009 recertification guidance <https://www.usgbc.org/sites/default/files/Recertification%20Guidance%20Oct2013.pdf>.
So, if this project was inspected in 2012, it should have been done again in 2017, so I suggest these be done right away.
For the ASHRAE audit, if by updating you mean verifying each item and marking it same/changed/other with details, that should be fine.
The transportation survey can be the same survey given again if the questions are still relevant. There's no need to create a new one, but it does have to be given in the same way the initial one was.'
Luckily, I have already completed the survey. I posted this same question for EAp1 - ASHRAE LI Audit, and we have already completed the walk-through, so I believe we will be fine.
Thanks for your help!
