Project StaSIO - A Crowd Sourced Library of Simulation Graphics and Case Studies

SDL Group -

Hi all!  After a brief hiatus from the group to move from New Orleans to Portland (OR), start a new job at ZGF Architects, buy a house, and  see my baby boy become a toddler (all in the past year!)---- I'm ready to plug back into the group.  Seeing folks at the ILFI conference re-energized me to reengage :)

So…..does anybody remember about 2 winter conferences ago in Arizona when I volunteered to put together a crowd-sourced website where we could all upload simulation output graphics and case studies?  The goal was to better advocate for the value of early modeling by focusing on what was learned through a specific, question-driven approach.

Well, 2ish years later, it's finally happened!  Check out the Project StaSIO (Standard Simulation Inputs and Outputs) crowd-sourced website.  About a year ago I was approached by the IBPSA USA Architectural Simulation research committee to join and help them develop ASHRAE 209 resources for the simulation community.  In the end, we decided that providing a library of beautiful, compelling, and clear performance graphic examples and case studies on a website would best achieve that goal.

I would love to solicit any feedback on the site and how to make it more useful to a community like this one.  Additionally, we've launched a competition in 2018 to help catalyze submissions.  It ends June 11 and winners will get announced at this year's ASHRAE/IBPSA 2018 Building Performance Analysis Conference in Chicago.

Thank all in advance for any insight!

Cheers,

Jacob Dunn

Encouraging + reminding you ALL to enter your favorite energy modeling graphics + case studies in the Project Stasio/Simbuild Competition. (Project StaSIO) You already have the graphic, so why not get famous for helping produce it? All while helping crowdsource the best, most useful energy modeling outputs so we can help our fellow architects understand energy modeling and especially our energy modeling collaborators who struggle creating intelligible graphics to help us understand their wizardry. Jacob sent the information below. The deadline has been extended to June 11. You have no excuse – share your wisdom with the rest of us! -Kjell .................................................................
