NC-2009 IEQc4.1:Low-Emitting Materials—Adhesives and Sealants

Product type classification

Hello, I have a project where a Stonhard flooring system will be installed, like a terrazzo floor characteristics, The system has a hardener for two components coating and a quartz aggregate, the questions are: 1) Concerning about the hardener: Do I have to included in the credit table like "Other sealant" classification?, 2) Concerning about the quartz aggregate: Do I have to included in the credit table like "Porous material substrate"?, I'll appreciate your time and help, because I'm stagnant with this classifications.

Stonhard gave me the products numbers, based on this I checked the Safety Data Sheets and the flooring system has EPA Classifications, majority: Industrial Maintenance Coating, Sealants and Primers and Undercoatings. My assumption is to classify all the materials like: Other sealant and Other sealant primer, is this correct?

Interesting. So, I would agree based on the information from the manufacturer, it would make sense to apply it to Industrial Maintenance Coating. Then, you should apply it the same for Credit 4.3. (32) INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE COATINGS are coatings, including primers, sealers, undercoaters, intermediate coatings and topcoats, formulated for or applied to substrates, including floors, that are exposed to one or more of the following extreme environmental conditions: (A) Immersion in water, wastewater, or chemical solutions (aqueous and non- aqueous solutions), or chronic exposure of interior surfaces to moisture condensation; (B) Acute or chronic exposure to corrosive, caustic or acidic agents, or similar chemicals, chemical fumes, chemical mixtures, or solutions; (C) Repeated exposure to temperatures in excess of 250 degrees Fahrenheit; (D) Repeated heavy abrasion, including mechanical wear and repeated scrubbing with industrial solvents, cleaners, or scouring agents; or 1113 – 6 (E) Exterior exposure of metal structures. (24) FLOOR COATINGS are opaque coatings that are formulated for or applied to flooring including, but not limited to, flooring for garages, decks, and porches. Floor coatings also include clear coatings formulated for or applied to concrete flooring. Floor coatings do not include Industrial Maintenance Coatings.

This is probably too late but we've covered these poured, resinous floors in EQc4.3. The max is 100 g/L and most of Stonhard's product meet that.
