Dear All,
I am in the process of making a NC submittal for an industrial facility. The energy supply system is based on Gas Engine Elect Generators and their waste heat is used to run the Absorption AC Cooling system. The electricity is also available from the utility grid. There is no space heating but waste recovery boilers.I have doubts in the following aspects:
1. What should be specified as the Principal Heating Source in filling EAp2 Table ? Fossil Fuel, Electricity or Solar/Site Recovered
2. What should be the fuel type to be used in Baseline energy cost estimation?
Thanks in advance.

So the space heating comes from waste heat from boilers. What purpose do the boilers serve? What fuel powers the boilers?
Assuming they are natural gas boilers used for some sort of process load then the fuel source is fossil fuel. In this case the space heating fuel type in the baseline would be natural gas.

Dear Marcus,
Thanks a lot.
There is no space heating in the facility. The waste heat boilers are for process load. As such Baseline fuel type for process load is natural gas, correct?
However, if space heating were to be present, it is not clear as to why baseline fuel type for space heating is NOT electricity as the backup is the grid utility electricity.
Please throw some light on this.

The process loads are modeled identically, both gas and electric process loads.
If you have no space heating then the default column to use is the Electric/Other in Table G3.1.1A. I think there is a note under this table that indicates this.
