I have two questions for a project we're currently working on:
1) The reduced parking credit calls for a 40% reduction from base ratio (since we are achieving at least 1 pt under the LT Credit Surrounding Density and Diverse Uses) and to provide preferred parking for carpools for 5% of the total parking spaces after reductions are made from the base ratios. So my question here is: say the 40% reduction comes out to be 471 spaces, but our project is only calling for 440 total spaces (so, well below that 40% reduction), would the 5% carpool parking be calculated off of the 40% reduction from base ratio, 471 spaces, or the total project spaces, 440 spaces? (I realize it's only a difference of 2 spaces, but I am curious in case other projects in the future encounter a similar situation.)
2) Can carpool preferred parking spaces and green vehicle preferred parking spaces overlap for some of the "preferred parking" spaces? I understand that EV and green vehicle preferred parking spaces cannot overlap, but curious how it might work with carpool vs green vehicles.
Thanks in advance!

1) Spaces would be designated based on (5% of) the actual total number of parking spaces.
2) Spaces reserved for carpool and spaces reserved for green vehicles cannot overlap in LEED v4. If your project has limited parking or is concerned about designating the number of required spaces, I recommend taking a look at LEED v4.1 credit substiution options for both Reduced Parking Footprint and Green Vehicles (Electric Vehicles) which eliminates the requirement for carpool spaces and preferred parking for green vehicle spaces.
