If the manufacturing process I am involved with consumes aluminum coil to produce our end product can we use the internal scrap percentage of the aluminum reused/reverted at the mill as either pre or post consumer scrap for our recycled content percentage? Thanks

Hi Trey,
I don't you think you can count that as recycled content. Any recycled content you count would have to be in the coil that you purchase. Internal reuse of scrap within a factory is consider just good manufacturing practice, not recycling.

Hello Nadav,
Could you please provide a reference on why internal reuse of scrap within a factory is consider just good manufacturing practice, not recycling? Thank you

Alexis, it is in the BD+C Reference Book & Guidance, under Further Explanation / Recycled Content. "Although it is good practice, reusing materials reclaimed from the same process in which they were generated does not contribute toward the recycled content of the material."
