Playfields?

Omer, LEED Interpretation #5669 states "...installing playing fields can count towards achievement of SSc5.2 for open space, but does not achieve the intent of SSc5.1 for restored habitat."

However, other Interpretations note that the fields should not be artificial turf. I would say that this latter piece excludes the basketball courts but not a grass pitch.

One review I got when attempting SSc5.1 with turf grass, it shouldn't be monoculture and does not require mowing. If it's a real, live grass, then it must grow. I guess the credit deals with shrubs & bushes in most part.

LI #5669 does not apply to LEEDv2009? LI #2522 says that playing field turf grass (even real turf grass) cannot be applied to the maximize open space credit.

"The turf grass of the playing field is contained within the development of the ballpark structure, is not generally accessible to the building occupants, and is further separated from the surrounding natural environment with the retractable roof. It will be a highly maintained area of vegetation, solely used for ball games. The area does not meet the intent of the credit to promote biodiversity, and therefore cannot be included in the open space calculations for this credit. "
