Hello all,
Our project team is currently pursuing this credit and was able to achieve it through door hardware manufacturers such as Sargent, McKinney, Norton, Pemko and CECO since they had the most robust documentation available (from what we could find). We couldn't find any information for this credit on other users attempting it and unfortunately we didn't have time to wait for answers from LEEDcoach so we were working solely off of the credit description.
Are there other teams out there that were able to find other products outside of door hardware that met the criteria?
- Acrovyn products might be close with C2C Material Utiliz. of "Gold" and a published "Consumer Awareness Program" that cites closed loop practices & take-back procedures (but they are clearly talking about recycling (not reuse) and gets a bit worse when they noted that "Recycling programs may not exist in your area").... but parts of this system are good candidates for reuse - maybe something will develop.
- I found that Armstrong Prelude Grid has a C2C Material Utilization score of Gold, but I couldn't find anything that seemed to qualify as a "published nutrient mgmt. strategy" that provides how to re-use, dissasemble or recover materials at the end of their use. But ceiling grid is another good candidate - I have yet to check with Armstrong to see if they have anything that might comply.
- Same for Xorel - it has a C2C Material Utilization of Gold and a "Responsible Return Program" - but that program notes that only "unbacked" product can be recycled and sends some product to a Waste to Energy facility - not exactly the intent here...but who knows for the future.
- Crossville has a Cradle to Grave EPD that addresses the required C1-C4 & D (recovery and disposal phases) and a published take-back program - this seems to align with the Guidance, but again - they "recycle" tile so I don't think it counts at the moment.
Very interested if you have other feedback.
