This pilot credit allows to many office buildings that have a VRF system and at least one of the baseline system(s) designated for the building using ASHRAE 90.1-2010 Appendix G Table G3.1.1 includes a cooling tower (systems 7 & 8) to pursue it.

Ths pilot credit is closed, but for new projects it is possible to substitute LEED v4.1 Optimize Process Water Use in lieu of LEED v4 WEc Cooling Tower Water Use, which includes and expands on the No Cooling Tower pilot ACP.

Option 2. Optimize Water Use for Cooling allows projects to document a 100% reduction in water use for cooling if at least one of the baseline system(s) designated for the building using ASHRAE 90.1-2016 Appendix G Table G3.1.1 includes a cooling tower or evaporative condenser (systems 7, 8, 11, 12, and 13), and the project team eliminates the need for cooling towers or evaporative condensers in the proposed building design. If referencing ASHRAE 90.1-2010, at least one baseline system designated for the building using Table G3.1.1 must be system 7 or system 8.

The good new is that this approach would be eligible for 3 points (1 more than in v4) for a Core and Shell project.
