If performance periods for different credits have to end within the same 30 day period, and our solid waste was hauled and tracked during the period of the project's additions and alterations, this credit will not be able to line up (timing wise) with other credits' performance periods. We've diverted more than 95%, and should be able to receive 2 valuable credits but is it worth pursuing if the performance periods will not line up?

You should have no problem using your data from your alternations and additions project as long as the project waste was disposed of within 2 years of of the end of your Performance Period and you have had no other alterations and additions projects that did not follow the credit requirements. .
Your Performance Period for Alterations and Additions does not end when the projects waste was taken away. It ends at the same time as all your other credits, its just that you have not had any additional alterations during the rest of your performance period. This is why the USGBC lets you look back for up to 2 years for some credits. You just need to make sure you have a program in place to ensure that all future alterations and additions also meet the credit requirements.

What if the owner wants the performance periods for all credits to end (in order to submit cert application ASAP) BEFORE construction is finished? Is it acceptable to merely submit the credit based on the waste diversion data up to that point?

I am wondering the same thing - our project has a qualifying alteration event (tenant floor fit out) which will happen during our performance period. However, I don't believe the project will be complete by the time our performance period is scheduled to end. Is it a requirement for the project to be completed during the performance period or can we submit for the credit with the recycling data that was provided during the performance period?

Hi Jessica, it's okay if the fit out isn't completed during the performance period. You can provide recycling data for whatever activities happened during the performance period.
