Parking garages

For Option 1 / Development Density - we have several large parking garages within our radius. Am I correct in thinking these would not be counted? I've always assumed this, but cannot find it specifically referenced, either in the official USGBC info or on this forum or others.

Hi Eric,

I do not have experience with Option 1 of this credit, but a thread in the LEED NC – 2009 forum dated March 02, 2013 seems to suggest that parking garages are not to be included in order to calculate the total building area.
