NC-v4 LTc7:Reduced parking footprint

Parking capactity criteria for rental apartment in college

Dear all,

can anyone explain the meaning of "1/Dwelling Unit EFFICIENCY AND ONE BEDROOM UNITS plus 0,5 space for each additional bedroom" ? This is what is written in the LEED Manual and I cannot understand exactly the meaning of it.

Thank you in advance,

An efficiency appartment is the smallest kind of appartment, also known as a studio, where the sleeping and living space is combined in one area. You can add 1 parking space to your base ratio for each of these. A one bedroom appartment has a living space and one separate bedroom. You can add 1 parking space to your base ratio for each of these. This assumes the den / living area doesn't have a closet. If it has a closet, you can count this as two bedrooms. Beyond one bedroom, you can add an additional 0.5 spaces to your base for each additional bedroom in a unit (including den if there is a closet). So a two bedroom appartment would add 1.5 parking spaces to your base ratio assuming the den didn't also have a closet. A three bedroom would have 2 parking spaces for a base ratio. Etc.
