Paints and Coatings / Green Screen paint

How is specialty application paint addressed under the Low-Emitting Materials credit within the Paints and Coatings category? For our high school project, all interior paints and coatings comply with the credit requirements except for one specialty paint used as a green-screen surface. The paint is limited to a single wall in one room. Would this be treated differently given its specialized function and very limited application area?

Hi Divya,   You will need to include the green screen paint in the Low Emitting Materials Calculator. You will use the "budget method" of filling out the calculator, so you will need to report the volumes used or surface area of all of the Paints & Coatings. You will mark the green screen paint as noncompliant for emissions and/or VOC content. The calculator will essentially offset the noncompliant amount since all of the other Paints & Coatings are compliant, so you will still achieve the category.
