I have done quite a bit of research on the GBCI website and looked at the LEED requirements, but I am still having a difficult time figuring out the overall scope of applying for LEED certification. We are renovating a 5 story, 50,000 square foot commercial building in Texas, and like most development projects, we are working with architects and engineers to complete the job. I have a finance background and I am trying to figure out if I can complete the bulk of the LEED application process. When I see that most of the categories ask the applicant to show overall energy savings based on percentages and using models, it looks potentially to be beyond the skillset of someone with my background. Or rather, with enough time put in, could I complete this? Or does qualifying typically take the expertise of architects and engineers to provide the correct documentation. I don't want to sell myself short, but I also don't want to get too far into something that is beyond my skillset. Can anyone speak to these questions? Also, I know this is dependent on the project, but what are the typical man-hours spent to complete LEED certification?
