NC-2009 EAc1:Optimize Energy Performance

Orientation for existing building energy simulation

Hello, I'm doing a factory project in Bangkok now. A new production building will be built adjacent to an existing production building. And renovation work will also be conducted on the existing building. The query in regarding whether shall I model baseline energy model in four orientations or one. There is a connection between new building and exiting building. I'm pursuing LEED V3 NC, both buildings are within project boundary.

In general you don't rotate the existing building. In your case you could probably justify not rotating the whole thing since a factory will usually be process load dominate and the difference in orientation will probably have minimal impact. Whether you would need to rotate the new portion depends on its size relative to the existing and the degree to which it is connected to the existing. Hard to say from your limited description.
