If pursuing the budget calculation method, how do you capture the layer surface area for mechanical products such as duct sealants, pipe sealants, firestop, etc. that are used in mulitple areas over a small surface area? These products also potentially fall under multiple assembly types, so if there is more than one which is to be chosen?

Hi Gina- I think you've found a loophole! None of the assembly definitions in the Reference Guide include ductwork or piping products, so it seems that if you use Option 2, you may actually exclude things like duct sealant and plastic piping welding solvents from your calculations. However, if you have firestopping in a wall, for instance, that would be part of a wall assembly and would have to be included. Note that the Insulation System definition excludes ductwork and piping insulation based on addenda from April of this year. Hope this helps!
