EBOM-v4 SSc4:Light pollution reduction

Option 1 Noncompliant Lights are Being Phased Out

Good afternoon everyone,

The LEED team I am working with is pursuing LEED EBOM v4 for a large project at the Orlando International Airport. The project encompasses over 9 million square feet. We were originally planning on pursuing Option 2 for SSc4 Light Pollution Reduction, but we learned the Airport has a phase-out plan in place to replace all non-shielded fixtures with compliant shielded fixtures at the end of their useful life. If we establish a timeline and detailed commitment for this phase-out plan would we be able to pursue Option 1? Due to the size of the project, Option 2 is significantly more costly and labor-intensive to the project.

Any input and insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

All lights within the project boundary at the time the project is completed should be compliant.
