I am reviewing the requirements for the O+M Starter Kit - Green Cleaning Policy and had some questions relating to these two items:
EQ Credit: Green Cleaning - Purchase of Cleaning Products and Materials
EQ Credit: Green Cleaning - Cleaning Equipment
- How specific does the language need to be regarding cleaning products and materials? For example, would a blanket statement requiring that cleaning products and paper products meet Green Seal guidelines be enough?
- Is achieving the EQ Credit: Green Cleaning - Cleaning Equipment required for the O+M Green Cleaning Policy?
- If the Green Cleaning Policy is included in an update to a janitorial contract, but that contract will not be signed until a few months after building operations have begun, can credit still be received for the initiative?

Following this thread for items 1 & 2. University's typically have a Campus-wide policy that covers cleaning products and materials, equipment and scheduling, because cleaning at night is more energy-intensive. Some materials are specifically indicated, others are listed based on Green Seal guidelines. Will this campus-wide Green Cleaning plan including any exceptions for the specific building be adequate?

As long as the campus-wide policy meets all of the LEED credit requirements and will be adopted at the LEED building you should be fine. I have submitted similar policies that cover multiple facitilies in the past without issue. I recommend using the USGBC provided LEED O+M v4/v4.1 EQp Green Cleaning Policy template as a starting point to make sure you have all of your bases covered.
