Offsite RE Exception for LBC

All,

For those who tuned into the Green Gurus presentation earlier this week, there was a question that came up during my presentation on NZE/NZC programs regarding whether ILFI allows the offsite renewable energy exception for LBC and Energy Petal projects (as opposed to NZE or NZC). I just double checked with them and it turns out they do allow for the exception to be used in LBC. Here's what they said:

"You actually have identified a very important clerical error! We have the Exception listed in the summary table at the end of Imperative 8, but the guidance text is missing! We will be sure to add that in as soon as possible.

To clarify your question then, LBC and ZE projects may use this Exception pathway. An LBC or Energy Petal project would need to indeed have a total of 105% of its energy offset by either on- or off-site renewables, whereas a ZE project requires 100%. On the other hand, ZC is meant to apply on a broader scale so both on- and off-site energy is allowed for offsetting a project's energy use, without the need to use the Offsite Exception."

Thanks for catching that.
