My project is a mixed-use building which consist a whole floor assigned as multi-purpose hall and another floor as canteen. Do we need to determine the number of occupants in multi-purpose hall? If yes, how can we determine the occupants for the said floors using the CS Default Occupancy Numbers?

The CS Default Occupancy Numbers Table is broken out by different occupancy types. Depending on how these areas are intended to be used, you might break out the multi-purpose hall and/or canteen separately from the occupancy type for the rest of the building. If this were, for example, an office building and the canteen and multi-purpose hall were intended to be used only by office employees and typical office visitors I would use general office for the entire GSF. However if this were a residential building with ground floor retail and restaurant, I would break the restaurant and retail space GSF out by use because we would expect different usage patterns for those two spaces than the rest of the building.
