In v4, the innovation credit language states: "The responses must be collected from a representative sample of building occupants making up at least 30% of the total occupants." In past versions of LEED, there was not a requirement to survey students in grades K-5. This credit language does not seem to distinguish between students and faculty/staff and there does not appear to be any addenda addressing the distinction.
Has anyone implemented this v4 innovation credit in an elementary school and did you include the K-5 students?

Hello Bryna. Did you ever get guidance regarding this question or has it been reviewed by GBCI? I'm wondering the same thing. Thanks!

The answer is that only students in grade 6 (or age 12) and above need to be surveyed in LEEDv4, just like past versions.
I eventually found this information in the Reference Guide, under Further Explanation, Regular Building Occupants: https://www.usgbc.org/credits/new-construction-core-and-shell-schools-new-construction-retail-new-construction-healthca-81?view=guide&return=/innovationcatalog/Schools---New-Construction/v4
