NC-2009 IEQp2:Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) Control

Not complying with Smoking ban

Hi all,

I have a question that consider already certified buildings that do not comply with the ETS credit. As it is one of the K/O credits, if a building do not comply with it, is it possible to loose the certification status?

To be clear: There are visible no signage saying that smoking is prohibited and a group of smokers stand daily directly in the entrance to the building...

I will appreciate your answer.

Thanks in advance.

LEED Certification is a snapshot in time and doesn't include any on-site verification. Therefore, it is very rare that a building would lose its certification after receiving it. However, there is a "Certification Challenge Policy" which is meant to protect the integrity of the rating system and can be initiated by GBCI or a third-party and includes a long process during which the Owner could fix the issue.
