State law prohibits smoking in and around all public buildings. Therefore, the school system usually doesn't put up signage for no smoking. Will the written law satisfy the credit or will we need to have signs made?

It seems like the state law may be insufficient to demonstrate compliance given that signage is explicitly required by the prerequisite. It might work if you could make the case that everyone who entered the school would be informed about the smoking policy in an alternative way. Otherwise, some visitors could be unaware of the law or just need a reminder.
