Hi,
If our project(s) have No cooling tower and no district cooling, can we not take the credit based on that our buildings are too small and that they are residential (nursing homes)? Is that what systems 7 and 8 is about in ASHRAE? Can someone please explain? (I have three nursing homes undergoing certification, 3-4 floors and 50 to 80 rooms for patients). I am not an ASHRAE modelling expert…

System 7 and System 8 apply to nonresidential buildings that are more than 5 floors or more than 150,000 square feet.
here is the language on No Cooling Towers: https://www.usgbc.org/node/5586086?return=/pilotcredits/New-Construction/v4
From your description it sounds like this credit path is not applicable to your project.

Yes, this is my problem, why am I ineligible for the no cooling tower path if I have a nursing home? Why is project size and number of floors relevant for this credit? I still don’t have a cooling tower and should be awarded for that. This is what I don’t understand. I think the text about systems 7 and 8 should be removed from the requirement.
