NC-v4 MPR2:Must use reasonable LEED boundaries

New V4 Project Boundary Overlaps Existing V2009 Project Boundary

An existing V2009 Project is getting an expansion that will fall under V4. These will be separate structures connected on each floor, and the expansion falls right in the existing project's LEED boundary. I see three possibilities, and wanted to get input from the folks on here what they've seen or what's possible (feel free to chim in if you see an alternative approach!):

1. Redraw previous project's boundary and new as two separate, but adjacent project boundaries that do not overlap. Recertify old project under V2009. Certify new project under V4.

2. Incorporate new project's area into old project's boundary, and use a campus site. Recertify old project under V2009 using campus points (possible???). Certify new project under V4 using same campus (possible???)

3. Combine and recertify as one new project. REALLY don't want to do this!

Interested to hear feedback about this as well.  Assuming the V2009 project is already certified? We have similar situations. Thanks in advance!

4. Ignore the old v2009 project. It was certified as NC and there is no "recertifying" an NC project. It is a point-in-time certification for design and construction and was certified appropriately at the time. Do whatever makes sense for the new one (v4 NC). If you want to combine the two projects later, do so with O&M as a single site.

I have a similar question of a Project that was previously certify as a Core & Shell LEEDv2009, a new phase will be constructed attached to the old one (future expansion of about 40%) including the already Certify Building is too expensive in fees and in anything that need to change to comply with v4 as v3 not longer allowed.  My question is how should I treat the new addition to be able to Certify as a new building (new construction as everything will be now completed.   1-Need to be physically distinct  with a wall or it can be without wall just a painted line on the floor?  2- Need to separate mechanical electrical and plumbing features, is it posible to use some of the existing features without including them in the new addition? Thanks in advance
