NC-2009 PIf2:Project Summary Details

new floor in existing building envelope

Hello LEEDUsers, We are submitting a project for LEED NC v.2009 - major renovation and new construction. A portion of the project is a new floor which has been inserted into an existing one-story high bay building envelope. It seems to be a bit of grey area as to if this new floor is part of the renovation of the existing high bay building – or if this floor would be considered as new construction. Any thoughts? Thank you, K

We had the same question - has there been an answer on whether this area is considered new or renovation? It makes a difference on EAc1 points.

We received a determination back from GBCI that the new floor in an existing shell should be considered "renovation". That makes sense to me since you are working with the existing thermal envelope.
