In need of commercial Living Building Challenge consultant

Hi all,

I have a project where we are providing the main sustainability lead role, but are in need of an LBC sub to provide additional expertise (and fulfill a contract requirement). We are ideally looking for someone who has experience with more than one project that has completed the process, and especially for (large) commercial experience that is not a typical office environment. We have a few other projects where this role is being provided via McLennan Design, but need a different sub for this particular project, and are hoping to identify a few similar options. Bonus points for being a minority owned (or similar) business, but not required. Ideal location is toward the northwest area (or at least west half) of the country.

Any recommendations?

Emily, Have you looked at Brightworks or Paladino? Kristen Fritsch AIA LEED AP BD+C WELL AP Sustainability Coordinator ELKUS MANFREDI ARCHITECTS [tel] 617.695.7954 [email] kfritsch@elkus-manfredi.com WFH# 206-356-5296

Hi Emily, I highly recommend Integrated Eco Strategy (IES), especially for assisting with Red List compliance. Their Red2Green material database is outstanding and they can help with other aspects of LBC too. IES is located in western Massachusetts, have a JUST label, and are working with us on our LBC work in the Pacific NW. The remote distance is not an issue, at all. I can send you contact info for Charley Stevenson at IES, if interested. Thanks,

Thanks, Kristen and Mike, these are all now part of our short list. Mike, that IES Red2Green tool looks pretty valuable, esp for LBC projects needing to deal with the materiality aspects. I anticipate we'll come back to that (in predesign now) for consideration whether IES is our sub or not. It reminds me a lot of Green Badger, but without being LEED-specific.
(And btw, John Hickey says hi!)
