CS-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Naturally Ventilated Warehouse

We are currently working on incorporating sufficient strategies to naturally ventilate an industrial warehouse. Due to the dimensions of the warehouse it is not possible to consider all surface as Naturally Ventilated, because of the depth od the floor plan extended from openings on the side, that will provide outdoor air.

Total Area of the warehouse is 6336 Sqm, and only 1496 sqm will be uncovered by natural ventilation (according to ASHRAE calculation) .

In order to correctly ventilate all the area, we are looking into incorporating special low speed, constant volume industrial  ceiling fans, that will ensure airflow through all the space and covering exactly the central area, covering the 1496 sqm that will require additional meassures than natural ventilation.

The provider of the fans is able to demonstrate the range the fans have, circulating air within the areas that are more than 5H away from the openings.

In order to demonstrate compliance with CIBSE, will it be necessary to demonstrate through DesignBuilder software that airflow is enough and correctly spread trough the space?

You can submit an engineered natural ventilation system and obtain approval by the authority having jurisdiction. That meets the requirements of ASHRAE 62.1. See Paragraph 6.4 Exception a.1.
