CS-v4 SSc6:Light pollution reduction

Municipal space lighting

Hello,

A portion of the lighting fixtures planned that are integrated in the LEED project, are not just part of the LEED boundary, but are also shared municipal space. The design of these lighting fixtures is carried out by the lighting consultant of the project, but this is a public municipal area.

Can these lighting fixtures be excluded from the lighting calculation?

Yes, you can exclude lighting that is required by the municipality. We often have public sidewalk or street lighting in the project scope and the city requires specific fixtures or the lights need to spill past the boundary to light the necessary area. I just highlight those fixtures on the plans/schedule with a note to the reviewer that we are excluding them and why.
